THE PROGRAM
The PPGAd/FURB - Post-Graduate Program in Administration aims to educate and qualify professionals for research, teaching, and leadership roles within organizations. Established in 1997, the program was recognized and recommended by CAPES, the Brazilian Ministry of Education, in 1999.
PPGAd currently offers a Master’s degree in Administration, guided by the following principles:
- Flexibility and agility within its research lines;
- Training students in teaching methodologies;
- Interaction with other research groups;
- Consistency in its curriculum structure.

Strategy and Organizational Competitiveness.
This area involves studies in strategy and organizational competitiveness, focusing primarily on innovation and strategic management within and outside organizations. In today’s globalized world, where resources, information, and knowledge flow rapidly, all organizations are impacted by external changes and innovations. It is essential for organizations to constantly evaluate their strategies to anticipate market and user demands.

Innovation and Operations Management
This research line focuses on how organizations can remain competitive through innovation in processes, products, and services. It examines the management of internal and external aspects, particularly the organization-market interface, and addresses innovation management across various sectors, including healthcare and nonprofit organizations.
Strategic Management and Internationalization of Organizations
This research line studies strategic operations, emphasizing competitive strategies in international markets. It includes an exploration of complex organizations, healthcare entities, and the nonprofit sector, examining how these organizations are managed to address societal needs.

Organizational Theory - 45 hours/class
Introduction to Organizational Studies. Topics include Human Relations, Behavior, Motivation, and Leadership; Decision-making and Weberian Authority; Systems Theory; Power and Organizational Culture; Learning; Institutional Theory.
Organizational Strategies - 45 hours/class
Covers the evolution of strategy concepts, strategic formation, and competitive and sustainable strategies. Provides theoretical support on strategy and organizational competitiveness, with applications to specific organizational clusters.
Foundations of Innovation - 45 hours/class
Theoretical foundations and conceptual delineation of innovation. Topics include types of innovation, innovation economics, knowledge generation, diffusion of innovation, and innovation management.
Methods and Statistical Analysis - 45 hours/class
Descriptive statistics, sampling, hypothesis testing (t-tests, chi-square, ANOVA), regression, correlation, principal component analysis, correspondence analysis, time series, and use of statistical software.
Research Methodology in Administration - 45 hours/class
Covers research planning, ethics, quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis, and academic writing, adhering to ABNT and APA guidelines.
Thesis Seminar - 45 hours/class
A platform for presenting and discussing thesis topics, allowing students to exchange academic and scientific references with faculty and peers.
