THE PROGRAM

The PPGSC/FURB - Post-Graduate Program in Collective Health, Professional Master's level, is a Program in the Collective Health area of knowledge of CAPES, which involves an interdisciplinary scientific field dedicated to disease prevention and the promotion, protection and recovery of population health. It articulates disciplines of epidemiology, social and human sciences in health, and policy, planning and management of health systems and services. The PPGSC/FURB was recommended by CAPES and started its first class in 2013. Each year, 10 new positions are opened for professionals interested in and engaged with Collective Health, whether from higher education institutions or services involved in assistance, management, research, and teaching.

The PPGSC aims to respond to a demand for training professionals for Brazil's Unified Health System, at its various levels of operation (primary, secondary and tertiary care), and eventually supplementary health. We have contributed to the training of teachers in Collective Health at higher education institutions.  The PPGSC aims to stimulate the development of technical, reflective and critical skills in order to induce transformations in the work processes carried out by health professionals and teams that improve management, teaching, scientific research, care and public policies related to the Unified Health System in the field of Collective Health. In this sense, our mission is to ‘contribute to improving individual and collective care in the Unified Health System, through the production of knowledge and the qualification of health professionals from the perspective of teaching-service-community integration’.

Main goal: to qualify professionals for teaching, research and health management with the capacity to develop scientific research and work in services in the area of Collective Health.
