THE PROGRAM
The PPGCIM/FURB - Postgraduate Program in Teaching Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the Regional University of Blumenau is a program in the Teaching (46) concentration area of CAPES, which prioritizes the teaching of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and its technologies. Created in 2009 based on a multidisciplinary nucleus that involves the areas of Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Computing, it is linked to the Center for Exact and Natural Sciences - CCEN at FURB.
PPGECIM's general objective is to qualify professionals in the area of Teaching, focusing on the development of research and products for the teaching of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and their technologies, to work in teacher training and/or in educational processes from Basic Education to Higher education, as well as in non-formal education contexts.
Specific objectives include:
- promote the development and advancement of research and educational practices in the area of teaching Natural Sciences and Mathematics that contribute to improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment processes;
- train research teachers based on the proposition and application of theoretical and methodological assumptions fostered from the program's lines of research, contributing to the development of investigations in the area of Teaching;
- investigate and propose training paths, educational practices and innovative educational resources at different levels and teaching modalities;
- develop critical reflection and seek to solve problems in the area of Education, considering demands from regional, national and international contexts.
Thus, based on the development of research focusing on teaching and learning processes, PPGECIM must present contributions (theoretical, methodological or educational materials) to improve the teaching of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Furthermore, the Program contributes to the deepening and exchange of interdisciplinary experiences, research and development of propositions of teaching knowledge and the teacher's professional action, which may have an impact on the educational system when developing educational products and/or processes.
PPGECIM's preferred target audience is Education Professionals, from different levels of education or non-formal spaces, or others interested in developing research or products that improve the Teaching of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and their technologies.
Area of concentration
